Trust then teach
We are a specialist tutoring and learning support organisation for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN). We create customised one-to-one learning experiences for every key stage, delivered in person or online. Our expert tutors, therapists, mentors, and learning support assistants specialise in Autism Spectrum Conditions, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and other health conditions affecting learning. We provide support through Education Other Than At/In School (EOTAS/EOTIS) and offer home education support for those who choose to homeschool. Additionally, we provide mentoring to guide students on their learning journeys. Plus, we can assist within schools or other placements, ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed, no matter where they are learning!
Support for learners with provision for Education Other Than At / In School (EOTAS / EOTIS)
Kite provides personalised programmes of home education and support to children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and either direct funding or a personal budget from their Local Authority for EOTAS/EOTIS. Kite specialises in supporting learners who have a demand avoidant profile.
Support for learners and parents who electively home educate
Kite specialises in supporting learners who have a demand avoidant profile and are electively home educated. Our programme design and oversight service includes facilitating curriculum design, setting relevant targets, meeting with parents to set up and review progress on a half termly basis, provision of resources for the curriculum, programme monitoring, assessment and feedback. We also offer tuition, mentoring, and learning support on an hourly basis.
Support for learners via mentoring
Our bespoke mentoring programmes are designed to support children and young people by building trusting connections and fostering meaningful relationships. We specialise in supporting learners with a demand avoidant profile. These relationships provide a strong foundation for future learning, with a focus on interest-based, child-led support.
Support for learners who are in school or other placements
Kite helps children who attend school or other placements (full-time or part-time) but need additional tutoring or support. Kite tutors combine strong subject expertise and effective tutoring skills with extensive experience supporting learners who present with a demand-avoidant profile. Our team can work with children at home, or attend their placement with them - a tailored support package, wherever and whenever they need it.
Testimonials
"I can not recommend KITE highly enough. We have been using KITE for a year now; we started with one Tutor and have progressed to two Tutors and one LSA. They have all worked at building relationships with my son, based on mutual respect and his interests.
His learning is interest-led, low demand and creative; which has meant that, not only is he able to access an education but he is beginning to flourish. I can’t Thank them enough."

"We have been working with the Kite Team for over ten months and our experience has been amazing. The Kite Team really understands our daughter's needs and goes above and beyond to support her, ensuring everything they do is central to our daughter's wellbeing and educational development.
Every Kite professional we have met, has specialist knowledge and understanding of ASD and PDA. This has made a huge difference to the approach that’s taken and in turn the positive impact and progress that our daughter has been able to make.
We would highly recommend the Kite Service."

“We have been with Kite for over four years and their passion, integrity and neurodivergent affirming approach has changed our lives immeasurably. Our son has a complex neuro-type (AuDHD, PDA, Sensory Processing Difficulties), coupled with years of trauma from failed provisions.
Kite has patiently and compassionately kept him at the centre of all that they do, by prioritising trust and nervous system safety. As a family, we feel seen, heard and understood and our son has made more progress than we ever could have hoped for.
We cannot thank Kite enough for their devotion to the neurodivergent community.”

“Kite TLS continues to be a crucial part of both my daughter’s EOTAS packages, and a big reason why they are finally able to access their EHCP provision after many months of being unable to attend school.
The whole Kite team around them have shown an amazing ability to meet them both exactly where they are, embracing their unique strengths and complex SEND needs with patience, expertise and genuine care - appreciating and celebrating their sometimes small but meaningful milestones.
Kite has also been wonderfully supportive of me as a parent, offering understanding, reassurance and a feeling of partnership, whilst helping me to feel far less alone as I navigate this sometimes, isolating journey.
It has been both a joy, and very healing, to see both my children slowly, but purposefully, regaining their self-esteem and growing in self-confidence, after so long struggling and in burnout - I credit Kite as being a vital part of this.”

"We cannot thank the Kite Team enough for the support they have given both of our children over the past three years.
Our daughter came to Kite after spending eight months isolated in her bedroom due to autistic burnout. At that point, attending school or engaging in education felt impossible. Through patience, understanding and tailored support, Kite helped her slowly rebuild her confidence and wellbeing. She has now successfully completed her GCSEs with Kite and is attending mainstream college - something we once could not imagine possible. While we know there may still be challenges ahead, I truly believe Kite changed, and possibly even saved her life.
Our son has also been supported by Kite for the past year following severe school anxiety and an overwhelming fear of education settings. The tutors have taken time to build trusting relationships with him, meeting him where he is emotionally and creating learning opportunities around his interests. This compassionate, individual approach has made such a difference, and I am confident that he will continue making progress.
Every tutor we have worked with has shown excellent knowledge and understanding of ASD and PDA, alongside a real appreciation of the importance of a holistic approach. They understand that emotional wellbeing, trust, and feeling safe come before learning can happen. Throughout our journey, I have never felt judged as a parent, only listened to, understood and supported.
A special thank you to the Programme Lead, who consistently goes above and beyond!
For the first time, I feel my children are being educated in an environment that truly understands and values them as individuals, rather than trying to force them into a system that cannot meet their needs.
I will always be incredibly grateful to Kite for the support that they have given our family."

In 2020, my son was in a terrible space due to unmet needs in mainstream education. He had a breakdown and was unable to leave the house for any reason. Then we were introduced to KITE TLS, PDA specialists.
The support provided by our KITE Tutors and LSA has always been flexible, compassionate and completely tailored to my son’s needs, at any given time, under any circumstances. Our wonderful Tutors took time to build trust and reduce pressure. They took such care and respected my son’s autonomy.
This person-centred and highly flexible approach has made an enormous difference to our family; my son’s confidence has grown and his emotional wellbeing has improved immensely.
We have now been with KITE for 6 years and my son is flying. This year he will be attending college, supported by his KITE LSA. He is keen to learn more and is looking forward to his future.
I have no doubt that we would not have got to this point without KITE TLS and I will be forever grateful for everything our amazing Tutors and LSA have done for my son and our family.

My son started working with Kite after leaving school aged 6. He had recently been diagnosed with PDA and was struggling to process trauma from a school who were unable to support his neurodiversity.
When he began working with Kite, he was an anxious little boy, constantly on the edge of 'fight or flight'. The merest hint of something educational and he would shut down and refuse to speak again during the session. Contrast that to H today, some 7 years later, and he is now a confident teenager thriving both academically and holistically.
The Kite team has helped him re-find his love of learning, supported his many interest-led projects, and enabled him to access the world outside of the family home. He goes on trips all over the country, writes plays, records a podcast, makes and visits escape rooms, builds websites and much more. And through the loving support from the Kite team, H has now found a love for acting, independently joined a local drama group and appeared in multiple stage productions.
The whole family could never thank Kite enough for the hundreds of hours they have given H, but also the support they have given to us all as we have navigated neurodiversity, government funding, pandemics, moving house and many other life events.

Kite TLS has been providing sessions for my autistic son for the last 5 years. These sessions have included mentoring towards adulthood/ life skills/ independence, as well as gaining GCSE equivalent level Science, Maths , IT, and English qualifications. He is now working towards an A Level equivalent IT qualification alongside a supported internship.
My son has achieved all this, following a late ASD diagnosis and total trauma, non-attendance, and shutdown from mainstream school. Achieving this with Kite is beyond what we could have imagined.
Every single tutor and team lead from Kite is AMAZING! They are all so patient and understanding to my son’s needs. The tutors are always flexible and adaptable in each session depending on what he can cope with that day. They always manage to make the sessions very interest- and student-led which works brilliantly with his PDA profile too.
Kite is a great support to myself as a parent too, especially with review meetings and in annual reviews. They are always there with plans to support my son into adulthood.
I cannot recommend Kite highly enough!

Kite TLS has been genuinely transformative for our daughter. From the very beginning, the programme lead and team took the time to really understand her, her learning needs, what motivates her, and how to work with her. They have understood us as parents and taken our whole family situation seriously. That understanding has made all the difference.
The tutors are responsive, fun, and engaging, and our daughter has built a genuine rapport with them. For a child who finds trust hard to extend, watching those relationships develop has been one of the most moving things to witness as a parent. Kite TLS’s approach has opened up her world through new connections, new experiences, and a growing sense of herself as someone who can engage and belong.
Thank you.
